Harry McMurl, 86 of Chatham passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at his home.
He was born July 31, 1939 in Campbell’s Island, IL; the son of Herman “Dutch” and Ruth Lovell McMurl. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Jeff McMurl and Jarrod Perce; three granddaughters, Kelsie, Samantha and Alyson; great-grandson, Bryson; two brothers, Bob McMurl and Paul McMurl; two sisters, Margaret Beutin and Hennie Barker.
Harry married Marilyn Sommers on November 8, 1990 in Beardstown.
Harry served in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated Harry’s Tavern for many years. He worked for Physical Services for the Secretary of State and was a IBEW member. He loved watching his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn; three daughters, Natalie Pippin, Michelle (Mark) Wethington and Chris (Mark) Reidle; one son, Adam (Cari) Perce; eight grandchildren, Amy (Ryan), Travis, Kenzie (Casey), Joey, Jake, Coleton (Nicole), Braylen and Kanden; three sisters, Nora Utterback, Mary Lou Gielau and Kay (Paul) Blakeman; several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be held from 1pm till 4pm, Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Oak Hill Country Club in Girard.
