Shirley Ann Deheve, 85, passed away after a long battle with cancer and went to be with her Savior on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Colorado Springs. She had bravely confronted and fought a courageous battle with cancer for six and a half years. She has been reunited in Heaven with her loved ones who passed away before her.
Shirley was born and raised in Chicago, IL on May 31, 1940, to Oliver and Alice Perry. This is where she met the love of her life, David Angelo Deheve, Sr. whom she was married to for nearly 70 years. They were married on June 2, 1956, at Old St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chicago, IL.
Shirley worked at First National Bank in Chicago and then at Square D/Schneider Electric in Schiller Park, IL for 20 years as an Electronic Assembler where she would retire from. Shirley and David then moved to Colorado Springs in March of 2006 where they built a beautiful home on 5 acres of land and enjoyed their retirement.
Shirley is survived by her husband David Angelo Deheve, Sr. and their 5 children, David (Lana) Deheve, Jr., James (Joy) Deheve, Joseph (Nancy) Deheve, Deneen (”former spouse” Edward) Olszanowski, and Joline (Randy) Slomka, along with 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
She loved cats, especially her favorite “Mamma Kitty” and her current black cat “Spooky”. She was kind, compassionate and loved her family and faith. A devoted follower of Christ and enjoyed going to the Latin Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Security-Widefield, CO until her cancer progressed and made it harder for her to attend. She would watch Mass on tv and say the Rosary and Devine Mercy Chaplet daily.
We are so grateful to have had her as our mother. She was the best mother any one could ever ask for and she will be deeply missed. She is in a better place now and without any more suffering. She is in the hands of the Lord now.
Shirley will be laid to rest on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Auburn, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 128 E Washington St., Auburn, IL 62615. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at Auburn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Catholic Charities or your local animal shelter. Shirley is now reunited in Heaven with her father and mother Oliver and Alice Perry, her brother Charles Perry, and many other family members and friends.
“May she rest in peace,” “Forever in our hearts until we meet again"
